Lorraine Powell and Ken Gorman first met whilst in their final year in college in Limerick University in 2000 and romance quickly blossomed between the pair, so much that during a year of travelling the couple got engaged in the exotic location of Don Det in Laos.
Fast forward to September of last year and Lorraine from Cobh and Ken from Westmeath were married on a beautiful sunny day in St Michaels church in Sneem, Co. Kerry in front of their delighted family and friends. The bride wore a stunning Jenny Packham wedding gown from Anabel Rose in Dublin and walked down the aisle accompanied by her bridesmaid Joanne Mahony whose dress came from Bridal Bliss in Cork. Ken's best man was Paul Gorman and the groomsman was Alan Gorman. The menswear came from Paul Smith's in the UK. The ceremony was performed by Fr Murphy and the church music was provided by the Trant Sisters. The flowers were arranged by the Window Box in Sneem. The wedding stationary was designed by Mulberry Tree in Midleton, Co. Cork. The wedding rings came from Keanes in Cork and Cape Town South Africe while the wedding cake was made by Ali at Milis in Cobh, Cork. The couple's photographer was William Healy from Healy & Remington who was also the photographer for Lorraine's three sister's weddings. "He did an amazing job for all of the. He makes everyone relax and have fun," says Lorraine.
After the cermony, the bride and groom were joined by 100 guests at the Parknasilla Resort & Spa in Kerry to celebrate their marriage in style. "It was absolutely roasting and we had a fantastic setting overlooking the water. It was like being in Italy!" recalls Lorraine.
There, they were entertained first by a band - friend of the couple from Westmeath - and later a DJ who ensured that the party continued until the early hours of the morning. "It was amazing, "says Lorraine of her special day." Organizing the wedding was very relaxed - it must be the type of people we are!. My advice for brides is just relax and enjoy the day - it flies by!" Later, the bride and groom spent their honeymoon in Italy where they travelled to Lake Como and Sicily.
